BEDA #1: Long time no see!

Hello there!
I'm back, well at least for this month and BEDA. As usual, I'm late, and I only have fourteen minutes to write this post before it's the second. So here's a quick list

- I just came back from a week in Canada, and I loved the country. It was gorgeous, and it reminded me so much of Europe. I loved everything about it. The trees, the architecture, the little streets, the little shops, everything!
- I loved the World Cup! It was definitely not the most gorgeous display of football that I've seen, but it's the best sporting event in the world and it makes me happy. I just wish that Germany had won it! My allegiances to countries is a little messed up because I support both England and Germany, but I don't care! But I really do think that Germany played the best football and deserved to win the tournament.
- I miss Manchester United and club football.
- I read so much in Canada! I'm almost done with Lord of the Rings, which I love. I started Little Women, I finished a book for school (The Kingdom of this World), and I started another book for school (Facundo)
- I've also started watching Star Trek, and it's just as good as I expected it to be! I haven't watched that much of it, I'm still only on the first season of the Original Series...
- I leave for Oregon on an international IB conference on Sunday and I'm super excited (but I probably won't be able to blog while I'm there...)

Happy New Year

Hello there. I haven't posted here in a while, but I thought since it's a new year I should do one of those cheesy posts about what has happened to me over the past year. (Even though I should be practicing a guitar piece...)

- I fell in love with football, the sport has practically taken over my life now
- I fell in love with Manchester United
- I found out I have the most amazing friends in the planet
- I found out I kind of hate school
- I started to wish that all of this school crap will be over
- I continued to love books, and still read like a maniac
- I went to some of the most amazing concerts ever
- I went to some of the best parties
- My obsession with YouTube people decreased, which is good because I can live my own life
- I found out that boys are stupid
- But I still like them....

It's been a pretty uneventful year, and hopefully the next one will be better :D

What I've been up to

Well hello there, long time no see. I'm still alive in case you are wondering, here's what I've been up to:
  • Went to the most amazing Boys Like Girls concert ever and as a result developed an obsession with a band called A Rocket to the Moon.
  • Got my first B on a report card.
  • Saw New Moon and didn't like it.
  • Read a book about football.
  • Watched a lot of football.
  • Cried over a football match.
  • Listened to "I've got Nothing" way too many times.
  • Started looking forward to going to school because that meant I won't have to do as much work as I have to do at home.
  • Wrote a 10-page paper on Don Quixote
  • Shit, I'm about to be late for a study session...

Gaby and the Killers

Today was the most amazing day I've ever had. I don't think that anything could have ruined it. So many things went wrong, yet everything just ended up being amazing. I had to wake up at six, but that was fine because I spent the time until one at an awesome Key Club convention, where I along with other overdressed people pretended I knew what I was doing. I didn't know that we weren't allowed to wear sandals, and I had a mental break down in the car, while I was driving and almost ran over several bicyclists while I was trying to call my friend. Shoes were discovered and I ended up at the conference wearing the most adorable pair of high heels ever. I also now have an idea of an awesome service project that I want to do. It involves soccer which is amazing.
Manchester did not win their game against Sunderland, they drew 2-2, but I don't think that it has hit me yet so I'm not upset. They are still top of the leader board and Berba scored an amazing goal.
During the convention I found out that my best friend did want to go to the Killers concert that I had tickets for, but I found an awesome girl to go with.
The concert was the most amazing experience of my life. We took off our shoes the moment the music started playing and we did not sit down until the end. The people behind us who frowned as we covered their view could not tamper our mood. The slippery, alcholoh covered floor did not matter. All that mattered was the music. I sang as loud as I could, ensuring that I won't be able to speak a word tomorrow. The stadium was full of sweating, screaming people as we chanted the words to Mr. Brightside we waived our hands as if we were one person, because for that moment we were. There was nothing that made me happier, I was smiling from ear to ear. Not caring about my Chemistry test, or math homework, or community service, I just cared about the music, and it was amazing

Perfection

There was an article in this month's Teen Vogue (yes, I read it, don't judge me :D) about what perfect girls. I realized that my friends and I fit into that category, even though we are not all girls. The four of us are top of our grade, we have never received Bs on our report carts, we are involved in too many extracurricular activities, and we are known as the nerds of the school. People pretend to like us because we are nice to all of us, but I know that they don't actually because every single teacher loves us. We are the kind of students who when given a simple homework assignment will create amazing artwork, we are the students who set the curve.
Other people expect us to do well, and we usually do. But when we don't do well we get made fun of, and you can see that people are happy because we have "failed". An example of this was when I was working on a problem in my AP Chemistry class. I got the problem wrong and a kid corrected me, when he realized that he was right and I was right he started being all "OMG you were wrong, I can't believe I just got something right and you didn't." I was actually really upset that people take so much pleasure in my failure. Another example was in my Pre-Calc class. We have the toughest teacher for that class and I was the only one that got a 100 and 120 on the first two quizzes and then got a 110 on the first test. I had never gotten a question wrong in that class, so the other day he asked me a question and I did get it wrong. Everyone in my class proceeded to stare at me because this was the first time in his class that I had gotten a question wrong.
I also realized that while I struggle to be perfect at school I don't do it for myself or for my parents, I do it for other people. I love helping people, and I guess I love the feeling of being smarter than people. Being perfect is not always easy, I've sacrificed many things to gain that title, my friends and I classify as the people who have no lives, and we put food and sleep second in our priorities, after school.
Because people expect me to do well on everything I also began to expect the same thing from myself. The other day I had a presentation for English, which I had worked on really hard. I am artistically challenged and I was able to draw a person that was as tall as me and it actually looked well. I got a 90 on that presentation and when I saw my grade I started crying, because I saw that as a failure. I now have a 90 in the class, I don't think I've ever been this close to getting a B in English and it makes me really upset. I know a B isn't a bad grade, but I see it as a failure.

Priorities

I haven't blogged on here in a while, so I thought I would deprive myself from some studying and several hours of sleep in order to write this. I don't even know what I'm going to write about...
School has been going pretty good. The teachers are definitely giving us too much homework, but I can handle it, so far there have been no projects which is good. I did write an essay for AP European history which I thought was pretty good, and I did get an A :) If you read this far, then I'm very proud of you, here is an imaginary cookie, and a Ronaldo *hands over*
I've recently noticed a shift in my priorities. (wow that's a change of topic). Last year it used to be school, friends and then other random stuff. Now it's sports, school, and friends. It's kind of funny because I deprive myself from studying in order to watch sports, which I've never done before. Not only that but I spend more time watching sports than I do with my friends outside of school. It's kind of weird and I know that most of my friends don't understand it, but football is just so amazing and it makes me relax and forget about school and everything else. Over this weekend I watched six soccer games, and I was going to watch more but I had to take a break and write a four-paged essay.
I don't really have anything much to say here, so I guess I should leave the internets and get some sleep.

Lots of Wishing

I haven't blogged in a while, but even though it's almost two in the morning, I'm exhausted, and I'm not really feeling well I'm still going to write this. School has been pretty tough the first three weeks. Tenth grade is a lot different from ninth- they started giving us homework the second day of school. The second day... AP Chemistry is really tough and I think I'm actually going to struggle a lot in that class, but I hope that I make it. Anyway, I don't want to talk about school here.

Last week I went to see Depeche Mode live when they came down to Miami for a concert and they were amazing! I think that must have been the best concert I've been to so far, and we were sitting pretty close to the band too, which was awesome. I wasn't really feeling well throughout the whole concert because something really weird happened. They started playing one of their songs, I can't remember which one, and it had a really hard core bass going on, the kind where you can feel everything shaking. For some reason I couldn't breathe because of the base so I had to walk out of the concert and I almost passed out, but then they started playing my favorite song "Enjoy the Silence" so I had to run back in there even though I wasn't feeling well.

So this week my parents decided to drag me to Sea World with them. I wasn't really excited because that mean that I would have to do all my homework while I was at a crappy hotel and that I couldn't watch most of the tennis matches, and no soccer. I missed my first Manchester United game since around April, and it happened to be a great game which they won. But going to Sea World was actually really fun. I got to watch dolphins and whales do cool things and even though I still have two English tests and a project due on Monday I'm happy I came. Tennis wasn't a huge issue because all the matches have been delayed and I got to watch the big tennis drama tonight.

While we were driving to Orlando from Miami I was talking with my parents about soccer. They were telling me about the Great World Cup of 1994. I call it the Great World Cup because it was the only team that Bulgaria did well in a World Cup, by well I mean we got fourth place. My parents were talking about how we almost didn't qualify and then how we lost our first match to Nigeria and then we beat Argentina and France and Germany, and many other great teams. I was surprised by how much my parents remember about that World Cup. They told me how we scored a our goal in the last minute in Paris to win the match 2-1 and how during that match God was Bulgarian and we qualified for the World Cup. They told me how the French stadium fell in complete silence as their chances of going to the World Cup were thrown out the window. Until this day the French still hate us for that win.

I wish I was there when that had happened. Well technically I was, but I was too small to remember, I wasn't even a year old. My mom told me I started crying when Bulgarian eliminated Germany and reached the semi finals and the entire country cheered so loudly. I wish I had cheered with them because just listening to my parents talk about it gives me goose bumps. I wish that I remember when Bulgaria was good at something other than volleyball. I wish I remembered the Gold Generation.

I wish a lot of things, too bad they can't happen.

Classes

Well hello there :)
First week of school is over, and it was pretty bad/ good. I love being with all my friends every day even though it is school. But the waking up at six part is the one that sucks. That and the fact that my classes are definitely not going to be easy. Here's how it goes:
  • English- for the first time ever I have an actual English teacher. I've never learned grammar before, so this year will definitely be interesting. As of right now I love the class even though it is definitely not the easiest.
  • Pre-Calc- my old chess teacher is my Pre-calc teachers, which means he loves me already which is good because that will probably be one of my hardest classes.
  • AP Chemistry- I think this will be my hardest class even though the teacher is amazing.
  • AP European- the class that I'm most excited for. It's not going to be that hard because I'm good at history, but I'm a little worried about the AP test
  • Spanish II- that class is a joke
  • Guitar- well, I can't read music so we'll see how that goes...

Also, I miss soccer, I've been watching all the games, but it's not as fun when I'm stressing about school at the same time.

The Adventures Of The Dinosaur Cookies

School has officially began, and so have the homework assignments. In English we are studying sentence structure and one of our assignments was to write a story using simple, complex, compound and compound-complex sentences. I found my story rather entertaining, so I think I should post it here:

I baked dinosaur cookies. Nadine and Maya helped me too. I placed the cookies in the oven and waited.  I checked on the cookies and they were baking. We took out the cookies; they were not ready. Suddenly they came alive; we screamed and Nadine ran under the table. Eventually we came out of our hiding spots, I looked at the cookies. The dinosaurs were eating the kitchen counter while we stared. The counter, when we looked closely, was made of chocolate brownies. While we stared, the cat appeared in the room and she sniffed the dinosaurs. She started hissing at the cookies, as they diminished the kitchen; we feared they would get into a fight.  The dinosaur cookies scattered all over the floor, and they ran out the open door, because of that we never saw them again.

Sports writing

Ever since I was little I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. After watching too many episodes of a cheesy TV show about policemen with bikes I wanted to work for the police. After I watched Legally Blond I wanted to be a lawyer, the lawyer thing went on for a while actually, until in fifth grade I realized I hate public speaking and you kind of have to be good at that if you want to be a lawyer. Since then I knew that there was only one (or two) things I am good at: science and math.

Since fifth grade I decided that I was going to be a mathematician (but not a teacher), physicist, or some other kind of scientist. Basically, I wanted to go into serious study business. Until about a month ago...

My obsession with sports began in 2006, but that was only during the World Cup in Germany. My real obsession with sports began last year. Sports is just the one thing that relaxes me, the one thing that I really like to talk about, and write about. And last week it hit me: I want to be a sports writer or a sports journalist. I'm too old to play any kind of sport, so that is my only chance to actually do something that I love.

I decided to create a new blog where I can only talk about sports, and see how that goes. As of right now it's going really well, and I love writing about all the different sports I watch. I realize that having a career as a sports journalist won't be as easy as creating a blog online, and sitting in front of the TV watching sports, taking notes and eating ice cream.

I know that my parents will not approve of my new aspiration, but hey, who cares, I love sports and maybe this will be the thing I want to do!
Here is the blog, in case you want to read it: http://shetalks.sportsblognet.com/
BTW, premier league season starts tomorrow and I iz excited!!!

Glory, glory, Man United!

Best Friends, Scarves, Backstreet Boys and Bubble Wrap Conversations

My best friend Maya is finally back from England and I'm really happy. (I really had no idea how to start this blog, so I just got right into it...) She was gone for three weeks and I really missed her because the two of us are usually inseparable. We went to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince because even though she was in England when the movie came out she did not go see it! Can you imagine that? She was in England and she did not watch Harry Potter??! Anyway, it was still an awesome way to spend our first day together. Then we went back to my house and sat around the freezing pool for a while and then watched some Friends episodes, because Friends is the most amazing show ever.
Anyway, I turned 16 while Maya was away in England and she told me that she had bought me a gift there. Of course I was excited because, well, who doesn't like gifts?! (Well Bella from Twilight, but she likes it when vampires stalk her...) I wasn't really expecting much, but the gift I got was amazing! It was a Manchester United scarf! I mean seriously, I am probably the only serious soccer fan in the world who does not own a team scarf, but now I actually do and its AMAZING!
After she gave me the scarf and after I drooled all over it we sat on my bed and started listening to some music... By some music I mean the Backstreet Boys.
I don't care who you are
Where you're from
What you did
As long as you love me
How can you not love them? It was on Sunday at 2 o'clock in the morning that I re-discovered my love for them. I was sitting around, wondering what to do and then BAM
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a heartache
Tell me why
Ain't nothing but a mistake
Tell me why
I never wanna hear you say
I want it that way

I was dancing around by myself in my pj's until around three in the morning when I collapsed on my bed to this:
All you people can't you see, can't you see
How your love's affecting our reality
Every time we are down
You can make it right
And that makes you larger than life

You can't tell me that you are not singing along right now, and if you are not, then shame on you. Oh and I won one of the Suite Scarlett giveaways, and I'm really excited to get  the book! Anyway to close this off here is a conversation I had with one of my guy friends today:

Me: Maya got me a Manchester United scarf! I didn't know who else to tell...
Him: Did she get it in Manchester? And I don't know who else you would tell either. And I'm jealous (if I liked scarfs).
Me: Yeah she got it from Manchester (she didn't actually, but Maya told me to tell him she did). And I'm not a fan of scarves either but I get to hang it in my room
Him: That works. Tell Maya that I'm upset she didn't get me a scarf.
Me: Well you are not important enough and also it wasn't your birthday.
Him: Happy birthday. Now I feel bad I didn't get you anything. And I guess you are more important.
Me: Get me bubble wrap!
Him: You got it. But why do you want it?
Me: Why wouldn't you want bubble wrap? And it was Maya's idea... Figures
Him: Well I can make it happen. I guess you're right, who wouldn't want it

I love bubble wrap!

Partying the Bulgarian Style

I happen to really like my Bulgarian family and friends, well at least most of the time. We are all kind of like the family from My Big Fat Greek Wedding but not as sober as they are. They all like to party a lot and drink, and eat, and do a lot of Eastern European things. Usually I get really bored because I'm not really friends with any other Bulgarians that are my age.

Anyway, once a year we have this gathering in the same park, and I usually spend the entire day hiding under a tree with my only Bulgarian friend, and trying to avoid all the annoying little kids. This time my friend wasn't there, so I spent the day with  an eleven year old girl (I think) who is gymnast, she is about half my height and beat my dad (who happens to be quite muscular) in arm wrestling. I had a soccer ball with me and our parents made us go to the field and play. It was kind of awkward, considering that I was wearing a dress, and all the other Bulgarian teenagers kept giving me weird looks. But it was also fun, I enjoyed just kicking the ball around and pretending to be a little kid in my tie-dye dress.

Of course the horrible Miami heat got to us and we were forced to hide in the shade again, while our parents danced to Bulgarian songs, which was pretty awesome because Bulgarian dancing is really cool, but I can't dance it all, but my mom is really good. The girl went to dance with her mom and she picked up the steps pretty quickly, and I was sitting there trying to remember why I stopped dancing. The day ended with my parents and me singing Bulgarian songs and having a random dude draw a cartoon of me for ten dollars.

I think I like being Bulgarian much more than I'd like to admit <3

Needles and Half-Blood Prince

I just realized that the title of this blog contains the thing I hate the most and the thing I like the most. So I think I should start with talking about the thing that I hate (needles) so I can get it out. I should probably be a. sleeping b. reading Don Quixote or c. watching Buffy, but I think I should continue.

So I had to go to the cardiologist because I've been getting a lot of chest pains lately. I'm not really afraid of doctors or going to the hospital or stuff like that, but I do have a phobia of needles. I don't like needles, AT ALL. As I walked into the doctor's office I didn't expect them to have to use needles because that's what my dad told me, and they were just going to look at my heart so they wouldn't need any blood, right? Of course I was wrong, and when I heard the word- or words- blood work, I almost died. The nurse walks in and she is all smiles and stuff and I'm sitting in there in one of those stupid paper gowns looking half-dead. Then she ties my arm with one of those rubber band thingies and she starts slapping my hand with her fingers so that she could find the vein, but of course they can never find my vein. She poked me with the needle, and then took it out because no blood was coming out and she said she would have to take it from my wrist. The moment she said that I passed out, literally. The last thing I remember was staring at the little hole in my arm that the needle had left and then it was all dark and then I had this really horrible feeling, and then I was fine. But I hate fainting, and I hate needles. The last time I passed out was again caused by a needle, because I am just so freacking terrified of them!!! I know why too, it started when I was really little and I got dehydrated and I had to be taken to the hospital and they had to hook me up to an IV or something and they couldn't find my vein so the nurse kept poking me over and over again, and she had this little yellow needle with little wings, and I think I was two at most and I still remember it. But I've always had trouble with people taking blood from me because my veins happen to not be very visible and well it sucks. Anyway, I've rambled enough about this, now I want to talk about cooler stuff, like Harry Potter.

I've seen it twice now, I saw it on the day it came out and today I saw it again. The first time I really liked the movie, but I didn't like the fact that it was so different from the book, which happens to be my favorite book in the series, and my all time favorite book. But overall I think that the movie was really good, so here are some things I liked:
- The first Burrow scene, with Mrs. Weasley, Ginny, Hermione and Ron, it's just adorable.
- Dumbledore. He was much better in this movie than in the other ones. He definitely wasn't as spastic  and didn't try to kill Harry like in Goblet of Fire. I just couldn't understand why he wasn't wearing his glasses, and why he kept sitting on the floor in his office, doesn't he have a chair?!
-Bellatrix. I love her, I think she is just so realistically insane, I mean just look at her! She is perfect, she is just like a little kid, but she is so... well... for the lack of a better word- insane
-Hermione. I think Emma Watson was wonderful in this movie, and I loved her relationship with Harry. The canary scene was perfect, and she was just great.
-Ron and Harry. Oh, they were just lovely to look at! The scenes with the love potion are just brilliant, they are both such good actors. And the one at the Burrow with the pies- again brilliant! Of course one of my favorite parts of the movie was the
Harry "She has nice skin." Ron: "So you think Dean is dating my sister because she has nice skin?" scene. They were just so natural, I loved it.
-All the Pensieve scenes were epic.
-Draco was amazing! And super hot
-The next-to- last scene in the movie, the one where they all point their wands at the sky. That's the part that made me cry, it was amazingly made.

A couple of things I didn't like:
- The kiss with Ginny. It was horrible. I mean you can't call that a kiss! She just kind of bit his lip...
- The burning of the Burrow. That was just weird and random, where is the wedding going to be in the 7th movie if there is no Burrow? I don't know I didn't really like that part at all.
- Ginny. Bonnie was just really awkward throughout the entire movie, I didn't like it.
- There was no "Dumbledore's man through and through"!
- Dumbledore's death. I didn't like the slow-mo thing.

I think that's it, I'm about to fall asleep typing this, so goodnight :)

Hormonal Boys

Ah so there is one thing about 13 year old hormonal boys that is just so very amusing.

So today my parents invited our friends for dinner and they brought along one of their childern's cousins who happens to be 13. He had the whole I-just-became-a- teenager-so-I'm- cool attitude and he was trying to talk to me and stuff and he thought that he knew more about sports than I did. Ha, no 13 year old boys knows more about soccer than I do (OK,maybe some do, but those are rare). It was funny cause he thought that he was going to impress me while I was sitting there with my blank expression staring at the boring soccer game that they were showing on ESPN. And then we were playing pool and I just sat there watching because I could give less shit about pool and he was all trying to show off and stuff. And then, yeah there is more, my parents were discussing going to a barbecue with them tomorrow and he turns to me and tells me that I should bring some of my friends along, but bring myself too. Then I told him that all my friends happen to be about three years older than he is, and he just smiled and said he likes older women. AND THEN, his aunt was telling me how much he waned to go to Hooters and watch the girls there. A thirteen year old boy at Hooters?!
I will leave you at that.

Obsessions and Tennis

If you haven't realized yet I tend to obsess with things a lot. Especially in a time like this when I have nothing to do. Here is a list of things that I am currently obsessed with/ have been obsessed with for a while:
1. Harry Potter- this has been going on for the past eight years, so nothing new
2. Soccer- this started in 2006 after watching every single game in the World Cup, but the obsession level has been especially high this year since I discovered my love for Manchester United
3. Tennis- this one is pretty new, it started at the beginning of this year when I was bored and decided to watch the Australian Open and then every single game of the French Open and Wimbledon. I believe that Roger Federer is God.
4. Reading- nothing new...
5. Other things that I don't feel like talking about right now

So, I wanted to focus on my tennis obsession right now since today was the end of Wimbledon. Oh, what an end it was. The game was four and a half hours long, which surprised me because, well let's face it, no one believed that Andy Roddick would be able to pull of a 5 setter. I mean he is good, but if you want to beat Roger you have to be amazing. I woke up at 9 to watch the entire match and when Roddick broke Fed's serve for the first time I went into shock, I basically stood in front of the TV for about an hour and a half (or until the epic fifth set) in complete shock. My mom was actually trying to talk to me at one point and I completely ignored her and kept staring on. And since I mentioned the epic 5th set of that match, I have to talk about it. I mean that set alone was longer than the entire women's final (which was really disappointing), and it took Federer 30 games to win the match. I think sometime after the 10-10 game I started pacing back and forth just waiting for the game to end. At that point I didn't care who won, I just wanted the game to end. Of course when it did end my hero won, even though it took him 4 and a half hours, 5 sets and 30 games in the last set.
I felt really bad for Federer's wife while she stood there watching him struggle. I was freaking out in front of the TV, and I don't even know the guy, but she is his wife and all, she must have been freaking out... And then there was Andy, oh poor Andy. I think this is the 5th time that he lost to a Fed in a Grand Slam Final. Poor thing, I felt so bad for him, because he came so close, and he played so well, but he just couldn't do it.

But I am very glad that Federer is again the number one player in the world (the only player to ever lose the number one rank and regain it), has the record of 15 titles, and can officially be called the greatest tennis player that ever lived.

I think that I have rambled for long enough now. Some last words: This Wimbledon was epic, definitely looking forward to the U.S. Open in August :P

Bye <3

Buffy, Books, Sharks, Soccer and Tennis

This blog post comes to you in five parts.

Part 1: Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

This is a show that I randomly stumbled upon while I was flipping through the channels while in vacation in Bulgaria a couple of years ago. I happened to like it quite a lot even though I'm not a huge fan of supernatural kind of shows. I've also heard Alex Day (nerimon) talk about it, so I decided that I would give it a try since I finished watching all the episodes of The Office. I'm almost done with the first season of Buffy and I still like the show. I thought that I would get bored of it considering that all they do is kill vampires, but I guess that's not all they do. It can be pretty freaky too especially the last episode I watched had a very creepy clown in it, and I'm very, very scared of clowns... But now I know that whenever I hear the creepy music something "scary" is going to happen or something is going to jump out at you. So yeah, I wanted to share with you  the fact that I like Buffy. Yay

Part 2: Books

I went out to breakfast with my parents today and my mom decided to get a pedicure afterward so my dad and I went to a bookstore just to pass the time (isn't this exciting?!). Of course the moment I walk into a bookstore I have to buy a book, so I headed over to the teen-lit section because I had already decided what book I wanted. I'd decided that I finally had to get myself a Maureen Johnson book. After checking all the John Green books for nerdfighter notes, and not finding any I looked for the J's and they had two of Maureen's books there. One was Bermudaz Triangle and the other one 13 Little Blue Envelopes. Now, I've heard how good both books are, and it was a hard decision and after contemplating for 15 minutes I decided to get 13 Little Blue Envelopes. So this was my great story about buying a book :0

Part 3: Sharks

My best friend Maya and I went to volunteer at the state park across the street on Saturday and we happened to be a part of the strangest thing... So we get there and the ranger that we usually help gives us some boring office work to do, we finish it, and then he gets a call from someone telling him that they found a dead hammerhead shark. He asked us if we wanted to tag along and see the shark and Maya and I of course jumped out of our seats. We went to see the shark and I have to admit that it was pretty disgusting. It smelled like death (duh, it's dead) and it was disintegrating. The rangers decided that they should cut off the head so that they could hang the skeleton somewhere, so we watched them as they cut off the head of a disintegrating shark and put it in the bag. Then Maya and I rode in the back of the truck with a shark's head next to us, and we occasionally poked the bag. We decided to name the shark Fred the Head. The sad part was that our friendship with Fred was short because we had to hang his head from a tree so that all the meat and disgusting stuff could decompose and the skeleton would be left. It was pretty disgusting and we smelled like dead fish for the rest of the day...

Part 4: Soccer

Today was a pretty big day for American soccer. I mean America made it to their first ever FIFA final. They beat Egypt 3-0, and they defeated the Spain, the team that is currently ranked as number one in the world (and has some very cute players! Have you seen Torres?!). I was very excited to see how they would play against Egypt, and I was pleasantly surprised. They played very well the first half and they defended amazingly. America had at least six men in their for most of the time, and Tim Howard is an amazing goalie, his saves just blew my mind! And America did accomplish something remarkable, they managed to score two goals against Brazil in the first half. I was amazed, and pleasantly surprised, even though I like the Brazilian team better and wanted them to win (my only reason was that I am in love with Kaka and Pato). The American defense did disintegrate a little during the second half and they allowed Brazil to even out the score, and eventually lead, and win the game. But the match was still great, and the U.S. team should be very proud because they played fantastically!

Part 5: Tennis

For the past week I've been watching and following Wimbledon nonstop, literally. I love watching the Grand Slams, and I've watched all of them this year. I've been very pleased with Federer's performance so far. He is my favorite tennis player and I think that he deserves to win this one so he can prove that he really is the best. I will feel sorry for the Brits is Murray loses though because he is a very good player, but I just don't think that he is good enough to beat Federer, but then again I could be wrong. I'm looking forward to the Federer- Soderling match tomorrow, and I hope that Fed can win it in three sets :D

If you read all this you get a hug from me, because I just realized how long this is :o. I'll go read 13 Little Blue Envelopes now, goodnight <3

Il Divo

I'm exhausted right now, so this is going to be a quick one. I was falling asleep about a minute ago but I decided to blog about today, so I'm writing this half asleep from my bed.
I went to see a "band" called Il Divo today and all I can say about them is that they are amazing! They are four guys that sing operatic pop, I think that's what they call it. It's basically really famous songs that they sing in opera voices... Here have a listen: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yay4W9hkJJM
Oh and I forgot to mention that all of them happen to be very, very, very good looking (especially the American and Swiss one). Their concert was awesome and I really enjoyed listening to them sing. I mean their voices are just sooo powerful it kind of scared me at times, and let's not forget that they are lovely to look at :D
I'm literally falling asleep on the key board so goodnight. And before I pass out have a picture of them:

Tweets for Iran

I like to tell myself that I am a rather informed person and I tend to sometimes give a shit about what's going on outside my own little perfect world, and it is at times like these that I start to worry that the perfection in my own little world might be ruined by the shit in the outside world. I remember during the summer when Russia invaded Georgia I stayed up until one or two in the morning watching CNN and reading news online, trying to figure out what the hell is going on, while most of the world was engulfed into the magnificence that was the Olympics. Since the whole Iran thing started I've been watching CNN on mute most of the time, and reading tweets from Iranians. While I was amazed at the fact that so many people have become involved and have tried to show support for the Iranians during these hard times, the the ignorance that some people are showing sometimes makes me lose faith in this world.
For anyone that uses Twitter you might have noticed how some people's icons have turned green in support for Iran. One thing that caught my attention is that some people have, let's just say complained, for lack of a better word. They claim that there is no use in turning your picture green, that won't end the protests, or the violence, or fix the election. This is all true, but that one picture shows these thousands of people that someone out there actually cares about them, it shows them that somewhere, very far away, one person gives a shit about them, it shows them that these protests are not pointless, and their voices are heard. I live thousands of miles away from Iran and  I can't do anything for these people except spread the news about what's going on, and if that is the only thing I can do I want to make sure I do it.
The fact that just by putting a hash tag of #iranelection in one of my tweets and someone from Iran can come across that message and maybe it will show them that someone out there cares, and it will give them hope to keep fighting. I can't even get close to imagining what it would be like if something like this happened here and wrecked my perfect world, but I know that I would like someone to care about me.
Someone posted this on Twitter today and it really moved me: We are all Iranians now.
Here is a link to a post written by John Green, this is one of the best things I have read in a

Not so great: gaby's rambling about bad days, Iran and friends

There is one good thing about today, and it’s that I’m not sick anymore. Yahoo! Just to warn you, this blog will contain a pissed off and whiney Gaby. Proceed with caution.

First thing that happened today is I woke up too late. I hate waking up late because then you feel like your day has been wasted and you can’t really do anything. I woke up around 12, and I usually wake up around 11, and after I woke up I had a horrible headache, the kind that you usually get after sleeping too much. Then I decided to watch P.S. I love you. It was an amazing movie, don’t get me wrong, but it was just sooo depressing, I started crying about 15 minutes in the movie, and I didn’t stop until 15 minutes after the movie. I know it kind of had a happy ending, but still…

After this I got really excited because my friends wanted to have a game night at someone’s house, and I volunteered my house because we rarely hang out at my house. At the end the plans didn’t work out because I lived too far and no one’s parents were willing to drive here. This made me mad because whenever we hang out somewhere I have to drive down for about half an hour to get to that destination. Most of my friends’ families have only one working parent, while both of my parents work and have to get up early to go to work. My dad has driven me around almost everyday this week just so I can hang out with my friends. I love my friends, but it makes me mad sometimes that I will take the time to drive for half an hour just to see them almost every day, and they have never been to my house because “I live too far”.

I’ve also been watching CNN most of day, because I’ve been trying to follow the developments in Iran, and that made even more mad at myself, because here are these people whose country is on the verge of a revolution and all I care about is the fact that I can’t hang out with my friends today. But, since the thing with Iran began I have really started to appreciate the power of the internet, and especially Twitter. I stayed up until midnight reading tweets from Iranian student s and reading articles about the crisis in Iran. I mean the things that are going on there right now are seriously disturbing and someone needs to do something about it, or it’s going to become another Tiananmen Square.

On top of that one of the shelves that I have on my wall fell yesterday because I tried to change one of my light bulbs, but I was stupid enough to climb on my rolling chair and I slipped so I held onto the shelf and it fell. Now I have four holes in my wall, and I fell really bad because my dad has to fix it.

Writing about all these things actually made me feel better. Oh well, on the bright side Manchester still has a future, because they are trying to get Torres in their team. He is amazing, and he can kick Ronaldo’s ass any day.

That’s all I have to say, sorry again for this whiney thing.

xxx
